This summer I got the sweetest email from a former wedding client of my friend Mary Schwarz, who now lives in Washington DC.  Lindsay and her husband Aaron were expecting a little girl AND that they had a very sweet dog who they wanted photographed. So, this summer we had  fun playing in their back yard with Rudy and capturing his personality. And, now, Lindsay and Aaron have welcomed sweet Phoebe into their world, and I was thrilled to be able to document this new phase as well.

Lindsay and Aaron, thanks so much for trusting me to document this wonderful time in your lives. You two are really special and I truly enjoy the time I get to spend with you. Phoebe is absolutely perfect, and I am so happy to have met her. Here are a few photos from your session. I hope you love them as much as I do. :)

And, just for laughs, Phoebe isn’t the only baby in this family. :)

There’s nothing quite as exciting as being pregnant with your first child. Everything is unknown, and there is so very much to look forward to. Rachel and Vito are expecting their first, a little boy, this March. And, it was so much fun for me to spend time in their home and NYC neighborhood to take their last photos as a family of two.

Rachel and Vito, I felt like a friend as soon as I walked through your door! And, I am so excited for you both. Your love is very sweet and natural, and I know that you are going to be wonderful parents. Hopefully I’ll get to meet the little man one day soon! :)

Here are a few favorite photos. Enjoy!

Hudson Lee Davis was born on September 13, 2012. A beautiful baby boy, he is sweet, happy, and easy-going. While I was there to visit with his mama, he continuously grinned and flashed me those big blue eyes. Rebecca is a childhood friend, and it has been so sweet to see her become a wife and now a beautiful mother. I was able to spend time with Rebecca and Ben last summer and take a few photos of them before Hudson entered the world. And, now, they are a sweet family of three.

Ben, I am so sorry I missed you this trip, but I look forward to seeing you next time. :)

Here are a few photos of Hudson and Rebecca.

“The baby years fly by so quickly,” they say. “Enjoy every second!” And, this is true.  I was there when Harriet was born to my wonderful friend Mary just ten short months ago.  Now, in what seems like only a blink, she is crawling around the house, eating solid food, pulling up on everything, and trying reaaaaally hard to say what’s on her mind. As I watched Mary and Jay interact with Harriet, I was amazed by how they have so beautifully adapted to this new stage of life. Just a year ago, they were moving to a new city and renovating a house. Now, they are settled in their home, enjoying their work, and watching a newborn grow into a toddler before their eyes.

Mary and Jay, I had such a wonderful time with your family. Your home is lovely and Harriet is a joy. You truly seem to be enjoying every second of her little life, and it was a blessing for me to visit.

I have known Rebecca for as long as I can remember. We grew up as family friends, went to grade school together, and eventually even went to the same University (War Eagle, friends!). Rebecca and Ben are expecting a baby boy in September, and I was so excited to see their world and document this stage of their lives in a documentary (non-cheesy-maternity-photos!) way. :) We spent time in their TriBeCa loft and played around on their rooftop deck and some back alleys, too!

Rebecca and Ben, it was SO nice to see you both. You are such a sweet couple and I just wish we lived closer so we could be part of your lives. Becca, I would seriously join you on that beautiful rooftop deck every time the sun comes out! :)

Thanks again, guys. Here are a few favorites from your session:

The Lupash family is in the process of moving out of Pittsburgh for a new job, so they contacted me to take some photos to document their time in this wonderful city! So, we met on the North Shore and had a wonderful time riding bikes, chasing ducks, and playing in the fountain. Thank you Emily, Daniel, David, Andrew, and Manu! I had a wonderful time getting to know your sweet family. Here are a few favorites from your session!

I love it when wedding clients have babies and I get to celebrate yet another happy occasion with them! :) Ashley and Matt were married at the Edgeworth Club in September of 2010, and I was SO excited when she emailed to tell me that she and Matt were pregnant! Their little boy Landon is just precious and I was so thankful to spend some time with him a few weeks ago.

Here are a few favorites from this session. Ashley and Matt, thank you for being so wonderful! It’s always so nice spending time with you both.

The Riemer family is a very special one to me. I met this family when I shot Aliza and Chanan’s beautiful wedding at the William Penn Omni Hotel, and since then, Aliza’s mom Paula and I have stayed in touch and grown closer personally, so when she asked me to take family photos with her mom, kids, and grandkids, of course I was thrilled!

This session actually took part in two parts – a four-generations shoot took place at Paula’s mother’s assisted living in Pittsburgh, and then the family met in Central Park last week for some photos with both grandgirls, Orit and Eliana.

Here are a few favorites from this family session. Thank you, Riemer family. I so appreciate you all.

I just returned from a wonderful trip to New York City where I had a great mix of work and fun. While I was there, I had the opportunity to do three sessions: a TriBeCa rooftop deck and back alley session for Rebecca and Ben (who are expecting a baby boy!), an Upper West Side engagement session for Whitney and Jon, and finally, a super fun and energetic Central Park session for the Riemer family.

Here is a quick preview from each of these New York City sessions! More photos to come soon.

Christy and Jared have been many things to us over the years: neighbors, clients, dog sitters, and most of all, wonderful friends. So, needless to say, I have been anxiously awaiting the birth of their first baby, Amelia. These photos were taken in Christy and Jared’s hospital room soon after she was born, and I must say, there is something really sweet about watching new parents interact with a brand-new-newborn.

Here are a few favorite photos from Amelia’s hospital newborn session. Congratulations Christy and Jared! :)

Jennie and Jamie are a sweet couple who have had an exciting relationship.  They met, fell and love, and then were able to spend their early marriage traveling and living abroad for Jamie’s work.  Their adorable dog Max (a mini goldendoodle!) moved around with them and was truly their first child!  So, now that they’ve settled down in Pittsburgh and have had their first daughter, Avery, I had the great privilege of documenting this new stage in their lives.

Jennie and Jamie, thank you so much for welcoming me into your home.  You are truly a really special family, and I so enjoyed our time together.  Here are a few favorites from your session.  Enjoy!  :)

Last week, I had a wonderful time in Florida with my family, and while I was there, I was able to photograph the family of one of my oldest friends!  Lauren and I have been friends all our lives, and it was SO much fun spending a little time with her sweet husband Daniel and her little man, Brock.  Brock was quite the grill-master, and for this Pittsburgh girl, there’s really nothing better than a session complete with live oaks, spanish moss, and sun.  :)

Here are a few favorites from this session.  Thank you, Lauren and Daniel.  I had such a wonderful time catching up, taking photos, and taking in a little sunshine with you both.

One of my favorite things to photograph is families. I love capturing people in their homes or favorite spots, simply doing what they normally do together.

Well, Nolan’s family was no exception, and we had a wonderful time together last week capturing Nolan at his 6-month mark. One thing I can say for sure about this little man – he is one HAPPY kid! As you can tell from the photos, he is constantly smiling and giggling and, well, shoving everything he can into his mouth! :)

Thank you, Kylie, Drew (and Mindy!) for allowing me to be part of your lives. Here are a few favorite photos from this session. Enjoy!

Baby yawns are the best… and this little girl was FULL of them.  Last week I traveled to Seattle to meet my newest niece, Savannah Brynne Chappell. She was born on March 7th and is the sweetest little bundle you’ve ever seen. These are a few yawns I captured over the weekend spent with her…  :)
