Last month Mary and I had the great honor of traveling to England to work with London wedding photographer Mike Garrard on two of his beautiful weddings – one in the Cotswolds and one in downtown London. We met Mike through the Foundation Workshop and were really excited when he asked if we’d want to take a working vacation and stay with him and his wife Marie for the weekend. Um… YES! Coming out of the workshop together, we were excited to work as a team and to push each other to become better photographers through the process.
I will be posting my photos from the two weddings soon, but in the meantime, I want to post a few shots of Mike and Mary that I took over the weekend. We worked back-to-back 12 and 14-hour days and pushed ourselves non-stop (except for the HOURS we waited for those darn brown pasties!). But, we also had SO much fun together, and I think the photos show that perfectly. It’s a wonderful bond you form with people when you are working for a common goal and approaching your job with a similar approach: to tell each wedding story creatively and fearlessly.
We named ourselves Team Fearless because we absolutely were. (we also named ourselves the three Ms, but that just didn’t have the same ring to it) :)
Stinging Nettles, anyone? Yep. We all itched for days!
Mike is a rockstar, but the Domkes were slowing him down. Insert: Black Rapids.
Mike is inside working hard, but where are Mary and Milla? Outside raiding his car of food? Yep, sounds about right.
Mary wanders across the lawn, spying her next victim!
Mary will do anything for the shot, especially a reflect-y one!
Really, guys, we don’t need THAT many photos of the flamingos!
Finally, two late-night portraits. These two are kick-ass photographers, and I absolutely loved working with both of them.
