Baby yawns are the best.

Baby yawns are the best… and this little girl was FULL of them.  Last week I traveled to Seattle to meet my newest niece, Savannah Brynne Chappell. She was born on March 7th and is the sweetest little bundle you’ve ever seen. These are a few yawns I captured over the weekend spent with her…  :)

Documentary Dog Photography | Maddox and Bingo

There’s nothing quite as fun for me as a photo session involving one sweet, energetic puppy and one calm old boy lab. As of a few weeks ago, Bingo’s world was calm, predictable, and happy. Then, in comes Maddox: an 8 week old chewing energetic sweet puppy that interrupted his house and his world in a good way.

I had so much fun documenting Bingo and Maddox’s world. Thank you, Stephanie, for the opportunity. Enjoy a few favorite photos from this session!

Bedford Springs Resort Wedding | Kelly and DJ

Kelly and DJ are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever worked with.  Kelly just radiates this “I love you and I don’t even know you!” attitude and DJ is just the same.  Kelly and DJ certainly know how to appreciate every second, as they have faced one of life’s worst trials – cancer – and come out on the other side.

Kelly and DJ were originally clients of my friend and fellow photographer Mary, but because of Mary’s pregnancy I was blessed to be able to work with them for the wedding.  You can read more of Kelly and DJ’s story over on Mary’s blog as well as see images from their awesome Kennywood session.  And, you can enjoy a few favorite images from their beautiful Bedford Springs Resort wedding below.

Thank you, Kelly and DJ, for being such wonderful clients and friends.  We were honored to be part of your beautiful day.

Birth Story | Harriet Elizabeth Schwarz | January 9, 2012

This fall I had so much fun taking maternity photos for one of my best friends and fellow photographer, Mary. We both really hoped it would work out that I could photograph the birth too, but since she and Jay live in Washintgon D.C., and since the baby was due over the holidays, we just weren’t sure if it would work out!

But, thankfully, I was home in Pittsburgh when Mary called me at 3:30am on January 9th and said “today’s the day!” So, I hopped in my car and made it there in plenty of time to be with Mary and Jay through this wonderful process. I must say, being part of a good friend’s birth is a very emotional, beautiful thing. And, I am so very grateful to have had this experience.

Here are a few photos from Harriet’s birth story.

Hello World | Meet Baby Harriet - February 29, 2012 - 11:18 am

[...] Finally, I can introduce her to you! She was 7lbs, 9oz and 19 and a half inches long–for those of you who like statistics. I was fortunate to have my good friend, Milla, drive all the way from Pittsburgh at three in the morning to photograph the birth. I’m so thankful she was there to capture the incredible story and the moments. As my memory fades, I have her wonderful photos to cherish the excitement (and hard work!) of the day. I’ll post a favorite here, and you can see more on her blog. [...]

Atlanta Biltmore Hotel Wedding | Ellie and Josh

Last year I had the fun privaledge of traveling to Atlanta twice to work with Ellie and Josh. The first time I had a blast shooting engagement photos, and the second time, we took part in a beautiful, classy, elegant wedding at Peachtree Presbyterian Church and The Biltmore Hotel.

Ellie and Josh, thanks for asking us to be part of your day. It was exquisite. And Arthur, thanks for being such an awesome dog-son the entire day. I am still a little disappointed that you couldn’t be ring-bearer. :)

Here are a few favorites from Josh and Ellie’s wedding day.

Stephanie - February 17, 2012 - 12:30 pm

Cell Phone Photos: A Solution

What do you do with the hundreds of cell phone pictures that are sitting on your phone hard drives? I found a fun solution! I chose some of my very favorite photos from the past year and had them printed in 12×12 inch size. Then, I mounted them on the wall with Command Photo Hanging Strips.  These strips are amazing because the photos are actually velcroed to the wall, so you can switch them out when you want something new without damaging the wall.

Fun, huh? Now, I actually enjoy these photos every day and often smile as I remember the stories behind each one. Start getting those cell phone pics printed, everyone!

Rachel Withers - February 14, 2012 - 12:59 pm

This is a fun idea! I’ve been pondering ways to use cell photos recently. :)

Zack Byrnes - February 14, 2012 - 1:24 pm

Where do you have them printed? This is a great idea!

Milla - February 14, 2012 - 1:30 pm

Zack, I have them printed through our pro lab, but you should be able to get them printed at mpix.com or another comparable lab! Have fun!

Maxine - February 14, 2012 - 2:03 pm

I foward mine to my email and print them from my computer.

Gluuteny Bakery | Gluten-Free, Dairy-free Treats

gluten-free-bakery-squirrel-hill-Pittsburgh

Gluuteny is an amazing gluten-free, dairy-free bakery in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Every item baked in the store is completely gluten-free and casein-free, and many things are vegan as well, including their amazing gluten-free vegan pizza… Mmmm!!!

Gluuteny is one of my favorite places to visit, as not only are the baked goods delicious, but the employees are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. So, I was extremely honored when they asked me to capture the inner-workings of the store for their new website.

Here are a few favorite photos from my time at this wonderful bakery. Stop in next time you’re in Squirrel Hill even if you’re not gluten-free – you won’t be able to tell the difference!

My Favorite Time of Year

One of my favorite things about living in the city is my nightly jog with these two guys.  There’s absolutely nothing better than walking out my front door and heading downtown after dark, especially this time of year – the city is alive and the energy is palpable.

And, a small added bonus:  tonight I had snow in my eyelashes and I couldn’t feel my face.  I love winter (seriously).  :)

Stephanie - December 8, 2011 - 11:21 am

Awesome pictures! I told Caryn yesterday that I think it would be awesome to live so close to downtown, especially market square. I’m glad you are taking advantage of it!! Lovely lovely!
